..Who would be stupid enough to do that? "Hey, wanna be my slave? In return you can never leave! xDDDD!" It's like, the "good" thing you get out of it ends up becoming something negative due to the catch. Thier is ALWAYS a catch, nothing is free. Best you can do is try to get as much positive to be balanced agaisnt the negative. Thats life. Personally i would take the deal. Everyone is a slave to something or another in some way. Whether they realize it or not. If you walk around saying you're a "slave" to anything you do then you're just being stupid. People make choices, saying you're slave is just just acting weak. If you're addicted to smoking then it's because you're unable to quit, not because someone will shoot you if you don't, but because you're not trying hard enough to quit. I understand there are real psychological things that can go with addiction, but they're breakable, and if not alone then people have the choice to get help. Of course nothing is free, of course it's possible to accept the negative and/or ignore it. That's no reasoning for signing up to being a slave though. You're comparing duty or obligation to total control. If I'm working at a factory I'm not the manager's "slave," I chose to work there. True, I may need the money to live, but don't I have the choice to work somewhere else, or maybe give up some unneeded things in life to go with a lesser job? It's not being a slave, but I can see how the line can be blurred for some. However it's vastly different from the scenario you're creating. You're saying that it can't be un-done, there's no escape (except by death, which, incidentally you become almost immortal), and the best you can do is whine.

You're saying that it can't be un-done, there's no escape (except by death, which, incidentally you become almost immortal), and the best you can do is whine. Everyone is a slave, You always need obey the rules of others. Past or present. A good example is the law. You are a slave to them, Ya you DON'T have to follow them but in the end if caught you are made into more of a slave, so you choose to obey them (this is a small freedom, the choice to NOt be futher enslaved). Its in human nature to think they are "free" when one really is. Everyone is a slave to each other. From the most rich to the poorist. An if you want a more clear view. Then use time as an example. Everyone is a slave to its whims. Sure you have "freedom" to choice small things (like with the entity) like what to eat, what to wear, and tiny petty "freedoms" that we have. Basically i asked this to see how which form of enslavemnt people perfer. Choice enslavemnt, or blind enslavemnt. choosing the entity is choice enslavemnt and you get good trade offs for it. Blind enslavemnt is just normal life. Subject to the whims of others and of time while not knowing you are. Both of which can be cruel. Notice I said the entity has no emotions? It really wouldn't be crual nor evil towards you with its comands. Because thats not in its abilty to understand. Duty and obliagtion no logner exists (least on a large scale). Want a good example of what killed that? Oginazed rule. Governments, kings, queens, exct. Though the ironic thing is they are also slaves to those they seek to controle and enslave to thier whims. Without the "underlings" they cant do anything. Not going to argue, my view is my view. -shrugs- and will not change. I merely presented a situation to see what would be the most common answer (and for people to have a little bit of creative fun). Personally i would choose the entity. Fair prices for fair compensation. More then i can say for most things in life.

Kinda bullshit that you die with it. No, I would not take this offer. You only gain all that you get from it because your bound to it. ^_^ Think of it as a symbiotic thing. Also it is very powerful it likely wont die or be destroyed. I feel like you browse /d/ and read the bonding captions more than you should.
