Fuck covid 19. Just honestly fuck it. Got admitted. Things are okay for the first few days... Sort of. Doc notices air and fluid buildup in chest cavity. No food or liquids for two days while they run mri scans looking for potential tears in my esophagus. Pain and suffering. IV hydration do not recommend. They put a tube in my chest and jeez that sucked. Few days later was on the verge of being off oxygen, literally on .5 litres, boom left lung tears and collapses. Okay not too bad after my panic attack and passing out. Kinda spent a few days out of it in the icu. They ended up sedating me and putting me on the ventilator while putting two more tubes in my chest to drain the liquids and air.
Spend 17-21 days on vent while being sedated with increasing amounts of drugs. Sedation coma dreams are fucking wild. They started me on 300 mg, then 600 when I fought off the drug to wake up, then finally 900 mg. Adter I fought that off they finally pulled me off the ventilator. Apparently while I was sedated my kidneys failed and I had to get dialysis and a blood transfusion.
Wake up back in solitary confused as shit. Try to talk, literally cant. Whole first two days awake is a clusterfuck. Wont go into too many details. I will say feeding tubes suck and can burn in hell. Had one shoved into my trachea on accident. Didnt know at the time but on top of having weak throat muscles due to being on the vent so long, I also managed to get thresh which fucks up your swallowing even more. Yay double whammy. So I asked for a smaller feeding tube. This one went down slightly easier. Gag reflex is strong fyi. This tube lasted about 4 or 5 days before it clogged. Had to get another done. Yay.
Third feeding tube didnt last the first medicine crush. Kill me. Decided to ask them to use the bigger tubing cause theres no way in hell I'm going through this yet again due to meds clogging the tube. Thresh is partly gone due to some medicine they have me use. Barely manage to swallow tube but its done, no more clogs while I'm on it for the rest of my stay. Catheters are the bane of my existence. Also covid pnemonia is fucking disgusting. It's almost like a solid when you cough that shit up.
By this point ive spent about 2 months in the hospital and ive lost about 60 pounds, over 3/4s of it muscle. Literally cant sit myself up. Dont get the ability to walk again until I'm transferred to a long term care unit and they some basic PT with me and even then I have to use a walker.
Get shifted over to a rehab center where I get just enough PT and OT to barely function. Go from being weaker than a newborn to being about as strong as a 3 year old and am sent on my way home. Ngl kinda salty about that.
So in conclusion after literally coming within inches of Death I managed to survive. If you have any underlying health issues for the love of god get the vaccine if you're not immune compromised. Had I gotten it I would not have to spend 3 months in the hospital and 2+ months starting last Thursday trying to get my ability to function back.
So yeah I'm still alive. Ngl kinda sucks and sometimes I do wish id died on the vent while sedated but I'm gonna make the best of this shitstorm.
